I am player that was forged by Counter-Strike and there are few things that I miss a lot in Overwatch, one of them is great FFA Deadmatch where you train your aim/flick skills and not your ability usage. Its hard, because some heroes are useless without abilities (genji/tracer etc.) and some abilities are just cancer (Immortality field, flashbang etc.) So I when Custom games were introduced I wante to create the perfect DM for me. Not for others, no. I wanted the ultimate training ground for me.
And this is what I came up with.
There are some small Workshop tweaks, for example the DM is non-stop (no timer ending) and the winner is announced after 150 kills (it can be edited ofc). Also there is some AFK protection (if someone is standing still for 3s he will get slaped) and my K/D K and D are always visible to me.
What does that mean? Well simply put, you wont find any ability that is simply not made for FFA enviroment. Im talking about Babptiste immortality field, sombra`s hack or torbjorns turret etc.
Its just not fair to have heal in match where you should train your aiming/reflexes.
Nuff said, I will be honest "Qs" are cancer of overwatch (at least in my opinion) and they are for sure not ment to be part of the DM mode.
Some heroes were really hit by these "hammers", for example Babptiste immortality field or his regenerative burst are vital (and only) abilities in his disposal but I disabled them, because of points that I wrote before. Thats why there are some disabled abilities to balance at least a little bit the playing field. For example Tracer doesnt have recall, Hanzo doesnt have storm nor sonic arrow etc.
Ana doesnt have any ability enabled. Sleeping dart is just too annoying and grenade is self healing. She is aviable in stock mode because some supports are in need to train her shooting scoped or un-scoped. Her damage is boosted, so it takes only 2 hits to kill other heroes, because of her lack of escape and damage mechanics.
No dynamite for Ashe, but coach gun is enabled.
He has all abilities disabled, except of his passive. Which in good hands is really good escape/ambush tool
This hero was a little bit of headache, because in general he doesnt have any ability that is strictly part of ability rules listed above, but for fairnes he doesnt have deflect in his disposal.
Super strong hero, even without the sonic or storm arrow abilities. He can still use lunge to outplay his opponents.
No flashbang, no right click. Pure aim plus roll to reload and/or get into better position.
Another hard decisions were made with this hero. She needed some boost because all of her abilities are disabled, so she deals more dmg. Spray is disabled.
Its hard to grasp this hero in this mode, because of his aim to counter the tanks of overwatch. He has every ability aviable to him (except of ult ofc.), but his HP are lower so mcree can one shot him with headshot from close range.
Soldier is lowest dps hitscan in the game, so he needs helix rockets. They are little bit strong but in my experience, it dosent have too much impact on the game. Plus it rewards soldier players to try to hit directs with his rockets.
Sombra is hero that is annoying by design, but if we take the hack ability (and Q) we get strong hero that needs to play smart to get kills.
Torb after rework is awesome (I have 74% winrate with him in high diamond). But no torret for him.
Definition of annoying in overwatch. I wanted to keep her blink ability untouched but the recall is just too much healing and reload to let her have so recall is disabled. Pulse bomb is also disabled, no Q for everyone, without exeption.
Yes, the sniper. Grappling hook is on, venom mine is off. Easy.
Same as Ana, this hero needs to have some boost to survive, but he cannot deal more damage that would be unfair and also it would be really contra-intuitive for mcree/tracer players to have to deal with HP boosted Zen. Therefore, he can be killed only by headshots. Its compromise, I want to have Zen in my games, because he is darn good DPS in good hands, but in this envyroment he is just too squishy.
Please feel free to comment (if its possible on this portal, I dont know) and give me any feedback. I would love to tweek this DM to have more ppl play it and to create some DM "benchmark" for training. Because no, the random generated targets are not a real training it just make you feel better but your movement will be really bad if you are used to train only by standing and shooting random generated dots on the sky.
My other plans:
I would like to create "Airshot" map for widows that are able to shoot only in air and ground will be boundy. And also some "aim_map" OW equivalent.
